Notes: Must be something in the water. Or maybe it's the towering evergreens. Whatever the reason, top-quality craft luthiery has taken root in Western Oregon as tenaciously as vines of Willamette Valley pinot noir. From his shop in Beaverton, Oregon, near Portland, Bill Gagnon produces hand built guitars one at a time, with impressive attention to detail. We've always felt that playing experience is a great asset for a builder, and Bill's instruments reflect a performance career going back decades. Sleek, handsome and easy to play, Gagnon guitars are made for the hands of the player, as well as the eyes and ears.

With it's 16" Venetian cutaway body, highly figured all-carved construction and tap-tuned X-braced soundboard, the Gagnon DeVant is a masterfully built archtop in the classic tradition. At just 5lb. 12 oz, the DeVant is remarkably lightweight, and the gentle "D" profile neck nestles easily in the palm, with a generous 1 3/4" width solid ebony fingerboard. The tap-tuned soundboard is meticulously hand graduated, with a rich, responsive acoustic voice, faithfully captured by the handwound Armstrong PAF.

The price of the Gagnon DeVant now starts at $7500, and Bill's guitars are rarely seen on the vintage market. Here's a rare opportunity to skip the wait list and bag an immaculate example at an unbeatable price.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe arched plush lined hardshell case.
