Notes: John Buscarino is one of the names you'll hear on virtually every short list of the premier contemporary archtop builders. Having worked closely with luthiery legend Bob Benedetto for a number of years, John also studied with the great Augie LoPrizi of classical and flat top fame. His artist list includes George Benson, Russell Malone, Ron Affif, Gene Bertoncini and many more, all keeping Buscarino's handmade instruments in considerable demand.
The Buscarino Cabaret is a unique hybrid design, specifically designed for the particular requirements of the bossa and fingerstyle jazz player. The solid hand-carved rosewood back marries archtop construction to classic Herman Hauser guitar design, and is designed to enhance bass response and projection. The 'double-top' soundboard, now popular among high-end flat top builders, incorporates a whisker thin layer of cedar under the dramatic bearclaw spruce top, to optimize the soundboard for strength, stiffness and power. The graceful Venetian cutaway allows superior access to upper fretboard, and the internal B-Band pickup system is easily the most accurate we've heard for amplifying the delicate nuances of the nylon string guitar. The hand machined Gilbert pegs are the smoothest (and most costly) tuners on the planet, and one twist will show you why. Finally, a graceful fleur-de-lis soundport on the upper bass side creates a natural under-the-ear acoustic performance monitor.
A rare appearance indeed on the vintage market, this example is in mint condition, and offers unrivaled versatility for the progressive fingerstyle player.
