Materials: Laminated flame maple body; solid one-piece maple neck; ebony fingerboard; bone nut; pearl dot fingerboard inlays.

Hardware: Original hardware includes slotted nickel cover plate, Kluson nickel tuners; nickel stamped tailpiece; spun aluminum cone; ebonized maple bridge and cookie.

Notes: What could Eric Clapton, Louisiana Red and Johnny Hallyday all have in common? All play custom resonator guitars by Fine Resophonic. A collaboration between English luthier Mike Lewis and French builder Pierre Avocat, Fine Resophonic has become one of the premier boutique builders of high-end resonator guitars. From their workshop in France, the two luthiers build handsome, high precision instruments one at a time, for an A-list international clientele.

The Model One is a 14 fret wooden bodied single cone in the style of the mid-30's National Trojan, with the addition of a solid peghead to facilitate stringing. With its hand-spun 10" aluminum cone, the Model One has great projection and snap, with the wooden body adding warmth and color to the tone. Both body and neck are constructed of extravagantly flamed tiger maple, bookmatched in a chevron pattern on front and back. Fine Resophonics are rarely seen on the vintage market, and almost never found this side of the pond. A perfect 10 review for an FR guitar may be found here:

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.057). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
