Notes: Twelve guitars a year. Year in, year out. That's because renowned luthier Ted Megas builds each of his meticulously crafted instruments entirely by hand, working solo in his Portland, Oregon shop. Like the late Jimmy D'Aquisto, Ted grew up with a background as a player as well as a craftsman, as is evident in the player-friendly design of his creations. Light in weight, and well balanced tonally as well as physically, Megas' guitars offer outstanding performance and playability, with eye-popping attention to detail.

This example of his Custom 7 String model is crafted of spectacular bookmatched AAAA fiddleback maple, simply astounding in its depth and intensity. With a solid pearl nut a full 2 1/16" in width, the fingerboard has ample room for finger or plectrum style players alike, with an elegant, gently flattened light 'D' profile neck.

This stunning instrument is crafted with deeply figured tonewood throughout, including the curly snakewood pickguard and tailpiece, flame maple binding, and variegated elm burl peghead facings. Even the nut itself is shaped of gleaming, iridescent mother of pearl, like the original Loar era L-5s. Immaculately maintained, the instrument is free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, with gleaming polished Evo Gold fretwork. A floating Kent Armstrong humbucker provides warm, accurate amplification of the rich, deeply resonant acoustic voice.

The soundboard is tap tuned of remarkably fine grained spruce, meticulously hand graduated to exceptionally fine tolerances. A handsome touch are the cello style f-holes, a rarely seen flourish of top flight luthiery, indicative of the superlative level of craft throughout. Ted's guitars are built to order and very scarce on the vintage market. Priced at a fraction of the current cost, this phenomenal instrument is a rare delight for the eye, ear, and hand alike. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel halfwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Deluxe black plush lined hardshell case.
