Finish: Antique natural finish, nitrocellulose lacquer type.
Materials: Solid bookmatched handcarved fine grain spruce top; solid handcarved bookmatched tiger-flame maple back and sides with Venetian cutaway; tiger flame maple neck with walnut centerstripes; solid ebony fingerboard with block mother of pearl inlays; abalone headstock logo; 7-ply body binding; 5-ply neck binding; bound f-holes; solid bone nut.
Hardware: All gold hardware includes Seymour Duncan '59 humbucking pickups, adjustable finger tailpiece, Grover Super Rotomatic tuners with Imperial keys; 5-ply bound curly maple pickguard, compensated adjustable ebony bridge, endpin jack, black barrel volume and tone knobs, adjustable truss rod.
Notes: Handbuilt in Kalamazoo by former Gibson artisans in the old Gibson plant, the Golden Eagle is the flagship of the Heritage line. The equivalent to the Gibson L-5CES, this rare double pickup Golden Eagle shares the same materials and specifications as its Gibson cousin, including the solid carved parallel braced spruce soundboard, solid flame maple back and sides, and inlaid ebony fingerboard.
Combining art deco styling with outstanding solid carved tonewoods, the guitar shows particularly vivid tiger flame maple throughout, and has been maintained in immaculate condition, and appears essentially unplayed. The solid carved bookmatched quartersawn Sitka spruce soundboard produces a warm, rich, woody acoustic tone, with smooth low action over a gentle C profile neck, with fine original medium jumbo fretwork, and a fresh high precision setup.
Built to the specifications of the classic L-5CES, Seymour Duncan '59 humbucking pickups and Epi style cloud inlays in the solid ebony fingerboard. Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel flatwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
