Materials: Solid bearclaw Sitka spruce top; Honduras mahogany back and sides and neck; solid Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge; mother of pearl dot fingerboard inlays; 3-ply top binding, small teardrop fire stripe tortoise pickguard, nickel Kluson Deluxe tuners, solid bone nut and saddle, adjustable truss rod.

Notes: Gibson's most popular flat top model, the LG-1 made its debut in 1943 and remained in production for over three decades. With its ultra-light ladder braced construction, tall skinny braces, and stiff resonant soundboard, the postwar LG-1 combines compact size with performance rivaling many jumbo guitar bodies.

At a featherweight 3 lb. 9 oz, this instrument is a delight to hold, and wonderful to play, with the clear, open voice of dry, well seasond tonewood. The guitar has classic postwar features including the small teardrop fire stripe pickguard, tapered headstock, Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, making this model a perennial favorite of pickers worldwide.

Well played and well loved, this little wonder shows attractive bearclaw figure in the soundboard, and retains its original Cremona sunburst finish, showing normal weathering for an instrument its age. Tuners and pickguard are factory original, with a solid Brazilian rosewood reverse-belly bridge installed long ago. The back centerseam has been soundly resealed, along with a pair of short hairline cracks near each waist on the back, with a bit of spot touchup, and some pitting in the peghead finish.

A delight to hold and play, the neck has a full gentle C profile, with smooth low action over fine original fretwork. A vibrant player, with the clear, full-throttle voice only decades of age and play can bestow. Call now.

Case: Original Gibson black fiber case.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.012-.054). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings.
