Handbuilt in Kalamazoo by former Gibson artisans in the old Gibson plant, the Sweet 16 is an all-solid, all-carved jazz guitar in a highly playable size. Similar in concept to the Gibson L-4C, the Sweet 16 is just slightly shallower in depth, making it a joy to hold and play. The Sweet 16 is noteworthy as well in matching its 16 body with a full 25 1/2" L-5 scale, a combination virtually unique in either contemporary or vintage archtop design. In addition, the full-size floating humbucking pickup allows the solid carved soundboard to resonate to its fullest acoustic capacity. This example is in superb condition, without cracks, pick, buckle or thumbwear, and shows only a slight patch of honest pickwear on the bound maple guard. The best buy in a true American made jazz classic.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel strings (.012-.054). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original Heritage logo hardshell case.
