Notes: An unusually prolific and versatile builder, Atlanta luthier Kent 'Carlos' Everett dates his buiding career to the late 70's, with a stunning array of hand-crafted instruments now over 800 strong. Now limiting his production to a scant 10 coveted instruments a year, Everett's roster of performing artists includes the likes of Brad Paisley, the Indigo Girls, David Wilcox and many more top touring and recording stars.
Everett's Celona series are individually designed instruments built at the luthier's discretion: they cannot be custom ordered, and only 2 or 3 will be built in any given year. This example from 2000 is a hybrid jazz/classical design, particularly well suited for bossa nova and fingerstyle jazz. The lightweight Alaska cedar soundboard is lively and responsive, with a handsome solid rosewood body for brilliance and projection. The gently arched 16" radius fingerboard is notably comfortable under the fingers and the ebony bound soundport acts as an acoustic monitor, bringing the body's voice immediately to the ear.
At just 3lb. 13oz. (1.74kg.) the Celona is a joy to hold, and the voice is richly resonant. This example is in superb 100% original condition, without cracks, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. The instrument plays flawlessly, with a full D profile neck, and is an excellent choice for the crossover player who wants a versatile and unusually attractive instrument.
Case: Original black plush hardshell case.
