Notes: John Buscarino is one of the names you'll hear on virtually every short list of the premier contemporary archtop builders. Having worked closely with luthiery legend Bob Benedetto for a number of years, John also studied with the great Augie LoPrizi of classical and flat top fame.
His artist list includes George Benson, Russell Malone, Ron Affif, Gene Bertoncini and many more, all keeping Buscarino's handmade instruments in considerable demand. Though his upmarket guitars range from $10K to over $30K at this writing, John's commitment to the working player was evident in the Gigmaster, a model designed for the real world needs of the jobbing musician.
The body is a hybrid of highly figured pressed and laminate tonewoods, specifically designed to optimize amplified tone while suppressing feedback. John personally completed final assembly on each guitar, with major components pre-assembled according to Buscarino's design and specifications. The neck profile is particularly inviting, and the overall fit and finish of the instrument is top notch indeed.
This example has all original hardware and electronics. The instrument is free of buckle, thumb, or fingerboard wear, with original fretwork in fine condition. The lustrous three-tone sunburst finish is all original as well, and shows a number of incidental scattered lacquer nicks, mostly near the pickguard, and on the lower treble bout.
Out of production for over two decades now, the Gigmaster offers custom luthier quality at a price well under many factory built jazzers. This rare find represents a tool, and unbeatable value, for the serious player. One only: call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge flatwound nickel strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original black deluxe plush lined hardshell case.
