Notes: New York luthier Victor Baker's archtop guitars are meticulously constructed entirely by hand, and rarely seen on the vintage market. This Custom 16 Seven String is crafted of all solid woods, bookmatched, tap-tuned, quartersawn and hand carved throughout. Built expressly for the working player, the compact Venetian cutaway body is fitted with a floating Benedetto S-7 humbucking pickup, and the solid, tap-tuned Sitka spruce top is parallel braced for maximum projection.
This gleaming example is carved of handsome tiger flame Bigleaf maple in the back, sides and neck. At barely 6lb. the guitar is nicely light in weight and well balanced, with a compact design that slips easily under the arm. The neck features a flat D profile that is slim and effortless in the hand, with smooth low action over a solid ebony fingerboard with generous 2 1/16" width. A special plus is the comfy 24 3/4" scale, hard to find in seven string models, which makes stretch chords and lightning runs a pleasure.
The Benedetto floating humbucker faithfully amplifies the warm acoustic voice, with volume and tone controls on the pickguard, and an endpin jack. Custom touches include the Macassar ebony headplate, and tortoise shell binding, complementing the warm tangerine violin finish. The instrument in superb original condition, and appears virtually unplayed.
A marvel of performance and comfort, this hand crafted wonder is a joy to play and a true best buy in a top-flight luthier built guitar. One only, call now.
