Notes: From his workshop in Holiday, Florida, Tom DeVoe built hand crafted guitars for a small clientele of dedicated players, until his retirement some years ago. With a background in precision machining, DeVoe brought an innovative approach to his instruments, from his distinctive hex-key adjustable bridge to the deep, almost Selmer style cutaway. Each instrument was built entirely by hand, individually tap tuned, with no more than ten instruments were completed in a given year. Best of all, Tom's commitment to the working player meant that his instruments combined superb playability with unbeatable value.

The guitar is constructed of highly figured tiger flame maple, and is fitted with all handmade ebony hardware. At a mere 5lb. 15oz. in weight, the instrument is exceptionally light for a super jumbo instrument, and balances easily on the lap or the strap. The neck has a gently flattened D profile, with a generous 2 1/16" solid ebony fingerboard, and smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup.

At 3" in depth, the guitar is slightly slimmer in depth than an L-5, and the 18" body conveys a deep resonant voice, with a clear, tight low A string. The Handwound Armstrong PAF pickup provides flawless response, and the stealth thumbwheels offer unobtrusive control of volume and tone. The instrument has been carefull maintained, and apart from a few lacquer nicks, the guitar is otherwise free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. All solid, all carved, all hand made, at a price below what most builders charge for plywood today. An outstanding value in true hand built US made jazz guitar. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe arched plush lined hardshell case.
