Notes: Dutch luthier Leo Eimers has built a formidable reputation throughout the gypsy jazz world, having built instruments for legendary players like Stochelo Rosenberg and Birelli Lagrene. A player himself, Eimers brings a trained ear and exacting standards to the voicing and playability of his instruments.
The Stochelo Rosenberg Signature Model is a painstakingly faithful recreation of Rosenberg's own Selmer #504. This "Petit Bouche" model is of the type played by Django himself, with the 14 fret neck and 670mm scale for exceptional punch and projection. With soundboard of fine grained solid European spruce, the guitar is notably light in weight, and the handsome French walnut neck has smooth low action over an elegant, slightly flattened D profile, with a solid ebony fingerboard.
This Signature Model is the rare premium version of the instrument, featuring back and sides of solid Indian rosewood, with aged replica Selmer style tailpiece and tuners and a vintage toned soundboard as well. The guitar sports custom electronics including a Bigtone bridge pickup with K&K internal mic and the Trinity System 2 channel outboard preamp/blender, which allows independent control of both channels to a standard mono output, compatible with any conventional guitar amp. A handy belt clip keeps controls close at hand in any performance situation.
This splendid example is in all original condition, without pick, buckle or thumb or fingerboard wear. Apart from the typical short grainline crack stopped between the fingerboard and soundhole rosette, the instrument appears virtually unplayed. Eimers instruments are seen but rarely on this side of the pond, and rarely still on the vintage market. To paraphrase The Master himself: Appel Direct!
Setup: This instrument is strung with light gauge silvered steel strings, and will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference.
Case: Original deluxe Hiscox molded plush lined hardshell case.
