Notes: Luthier Dale Unger was raised in Nazareth, PA, and grew up around the great craftsmen of CF Martin and Co. Building his first guitar in 1977, Unger was introduced to archtop guru Bob Benedetto in 1993, and began building the instruments that would become the American Archtop series of guitars. Now, Unger's designs have come full circle, having been adopted by Martin for their first line of archtop guitars since 1942.

The American Legend is Unger's premium series, featuring a solid carved flame maple body and neck, with a hand graduated solid spruce soundboard. With its X-braced design, slimline finger rest, and cello style tailpiece, the American Dream is built in the lineage of the great Benedetto designs.

A brilliant work of craftsmanship, this striking instrument features a body and neck carved of intensely figured tiger flame maple, highlighted by the precision joinery, which is entirely free of binding. At a mere 5lb 5oz, the guitar is exceptionally light for a full depth 17" instrument, with excellent balance on the lap or the strap.

The hand graduated, X-braced soundboard yields a clear, crisp voice, with excellent balance, and truly powerful acoustic projection. The gentle D profile neck is solid in the hand, with smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup. Lovingly maintained in showroom condition, the guitar appears free of playwear of any kind, with all original finish and hardware, and is accompanied by its original deluxe arched plush lined hardshell case, with tweed covering.

Exceptional quality, for the working player and weekend warrior alike. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
