Materials: Solid bookmatched Adirondack spruce top; solid Brazilian Rosewood back and sides; solid one-piece mahogany neck with adjustable truss rod; solid ebony bridge and fingerboard; pearl diamond inlays; herringbone body purfling; grained ivoroid neck binding and heel cap; curly maple body binding; Larrivee 18:1 cast bronze open gear tuners; leopard tortoise pickguard.
Notes: Introduced in 1902, the 000 model was Martin's largest guitar, until the advent of the D series in 1930. Championed by players like country pioneer Jimmy Rodgers, the original long 12 fret body was downsized in 1934, but the superlative tone of the old slot-head 000 never lost its popularity, and was favored by renowned pickers from Norman Blake to Merle Haggard.
This striking guitar from Larrivee is a scrupulously faithful reissue of this historic model, right down to its accurate prewar tonewoods, including the solid Adirondack spruce top, and a highly figured solid Brazilian rosewood body. The elongated body, long dreadnought scale, and forward shifted X-bracing all combine for superlative warmth and clarity, with resonant bass response and sparkling sustain.
Understated and elegant, this rare model is fitted with vintage correct appointments including the ebony pyramid bridge, herringbone trim, diamond fingerboard inlays, and grained ivoroid binding and heel cap. Larrivee's own cast bronze 18:1 tuners provide smooth modern performance with true vintage looks.
At just 4lb 9oz, this vibrant guitar is notably lightweight, with the slotted headstock contributing to its excellent balance in the lap or on the strap. The soundboard is bookmatched of colorful quartersawn Adirondack spruce, and the Brazilian rosewood body shows dramatic variety in hue and pattern as well. With smooth low action over a fresh high-precision setup, the gentle C profile neck and generous 1 13/16" nut are both ideal for finger or pick style play.
This rare S0-60 model (the predecessor to Larrivee's 000-60) is one of a very small batch from June of 2005. Lovingly maintained in showroom condition, this gleaming instrument appears all but unplayed. A beloved classic, with all the definition and shimmering reverb for which true Brazilian has always been renowned. One only, call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings.
Case: Original arched black Larrivee plush lined hardshell case.
