Materials: Solid bookmatched Adirondack spruce top; solid bookmatched Indian Rosewood back and sides; solid one-piece mahogany neck; solid ebony fingerboard; solid ebony bridge with compensated bone saddle; Waverly nickel 16X1 butterbean tuners; swirl tortoise pickguard; inlaid bridgepins; herringbone body binding; hex-key adjustable truss rod.
Notes: Austin, Texas based Collings guitars don't need much bragging. They're just some of the best flat tops on the planet. The OM-2AH model is the popular 000 body size with the 14 fret neck and long scale, reminiscent of the classic Martin OM of the early 30's, with a generous 1 3/4" nut for finger or pick style play.
This handsome example is built with genuine Adirondack (red) spruce, the lightest and strongest guitar topwood, and largely unavailable since the Second World War. Adirondack tops convey maximum dynamic range and headroom, and can be played vigorously without distortion. With a solid rosewood body, and solid ebony fingerboard and bridge, the guitar is graced with elegant traditional herringbone binding, the small tortoise guard, and an eye-catching curly rosewood headplate.
The voice is sweet as the Hill Country itself, with excellent balance and brilliant clear highs. This example is in virtually unplayed condition, and is equipped with smooth, spendy Waverly 16X1 tuners. An exceptionally versatile instrument from one of America's premier builders.
True Adirondack OMs are hard to find on the vintage market: owners are keepers. One only: call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.012-.054). The guitar will accommodate lighter strings, according to preference.
Case: Original deluxe black hardshell case with crushed velour lining.
