Serial #: 0093 Body size at lower bout: 16" Body Depth: 3 1//8" Scale length: 25" Nut: 1 3/4" Neck depth: .75/.83, 1st/10th frets
Materials: Solid carved fine grained spruce top; solid carved flame maple body and neck; solid ebony fingerboard; 5 ply body binding; bound soundhole with rosette; polished bone nut.
Hardware: All ebony hardware includes contoured tailpiece, finger rest and compensated adjustable bridge; gold Schaller M-6 tuners with ebony keys; Kent Armstrong floating humbucking pickup with thumbwheel volume control and endpin jack.
Notes: All solid. All carved. Hand built, one at a time, with remarkable high-figure tonewoods. Eastman archtop guitars are individually crafted by violin-trained luthiers, without shortcuts, the old-fashioned way. And they share the appointments of the costliest high-end guitars. Solid ebony finger rest, tailpiece and fingerboard like a Benedetto. Bound f-holes, and lustrous grained ivoroid body binding. All at a price point previously dominated by factory plywood boxes.
One of Eastman's rarest models, this AR-804CE was among the firm's earliest offerings, and was produced only in a short production run. The oval soundhole echoes Gibson's classic F series archtops of the early 20th century, and the upgrade blonde finish highlights the extravagantly figured maple body to spectacular advantage.
The finely graduated solid X-braced spruce soundboard offers a warm, rich acoustic voice, notably versatile for a variety of playing styles. The full depth 16" body is comfy on the lap or the strap, with an extended cutaway affording enhanced access to the uppermost frets. And the gentle D profile neck profile is smoothly tapered, with a generous 1 3/4" solid ebony fingerboard. Fitted with a floating Kent Armstrong humbucking pickup, this handsome instrument has all original hardware and finish, with multiply binding all tight to the body, and excellent neck angle and bridge height. Free of buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, the guitar shows only a few incidental finish nicks. A short hairline finish only crack is visible at each waist, but neither extends into the wood of the soundboard.
A rare and unique instrument, and a true best buy in a fully carved, pro quality archtop guitar. One only: call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original molded black hardshell case with velour lining.
