Finish: Ebony finish, nitrocellulose type

Materials: Solid Honduras mahogany neck; arched maple top back, and sides; solid rosewood fingerboard; solid maple center block.

Hardware: All-original hardware includes twin '57 Classic humbucking pickups; aluminum stop tailpiece; ABR-1 Tuneomatic bridge; black bell volume and tone knobs; 5 ply beveled pickguard with nickel support bracket; nickel Grover Rotomatic tuners.

Notes: Introduced in 1958, the ES-335TD ("Thin Double-pickup") cemented Gibson's reputation for cutting-edge innovation combined with classic traditional design. The thin body was easier for players to hold, the inner block enhanced sustain and reduced feedback, and the new PAF humbucking pickups set a new standard for quiet operation, high output, and sweet, fat tone. Small wonder that the 335 became an instant classic, and has remained one of the worlds' most popular electric guitars to this day.

Though the elegant ebony finish was standard on the Les Paul Custom, factory black examples of the ES-335 are quite rare, and would have been made only on custom order. This gleaming reissue is squarely in the tradition, with gently arched maple in the top and back, the nice wide 1 11/16" fingerboard and the gentle C neck profile of the classic early 60's dot necks. The full access 22 fret neck has the classic compact headstock with 17 degree angle and 12 degree fingerboard radius, and the guitar is fully equipped with vintage correct hardware, with vintage toned binding throughout.

The frets are the traditional Gibson mediums, the body and neck are nicely balanced, and the instrument sits comfortably on the lap or the shoulder. The '57 Classic humbucking pickups produce a smooth, high output signal with lots of snap and sustain. Hardware and finish are 100% original, and the guitar shows only light normal playwear, with the body freshly buffed, and a complete high-precision setup. The guitar plays sweetly, with the smooth bluesy tone for which this model is justly famed, and is supplied with original case, coverlet, paperwork and truss rod wrench.

Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with light relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
