Notes: Must have been the sawdust in the air. Luthier Dale Unger was raised in Nazareth, PA, and grew up around the great craftsmen of CF Martin and Co. Building his first guitar in 1977, Unger was introduced to archtop guru Bob Benedetto in 1993, and began building the instruments that would become the American Archtop series of guitars. Finally Unger's designs came full circle, having been adopted by Martin for their first line of archtop guitars since 1942.
A full depth 17" Venetian cutaway guitar, this American Legend Seven String is hand-voiced, with all European tonewoods. With its X-braced design, and Kent Armstrong floating pickup, the American Legend is built with sleek lines accentuated by the binding-free construction, lending the instument a clean and dramatic apparance.
A rare example in the seven string configuration, this striking guitar has exceptionally vivid flame maple back, sides and neck, and custom upgrades including ebony keys, and the attractive oval soundhole. Reminiscent of the classic Gibson Howard Roberts, the oval hole design adds warmth and body where it counts, for a tight, deeply resonant low A string.
The neck profile is a flattened gentle D, with smooth low action over freshly dressed medium frets on a fingerboard of solid black ebony. Professionally played, the guitar has been maintained in 100% original condition, showing only a few incidental nicks in the lustrous amber blonde lacquer finish. Priced new at over $6000, this blonde beauty offers an opportunity to jump the wait list and save a bundle to boot, for one of the most popular working guitars on the scene today. Call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original deluxe tweed arched plush-lined hardshell case.
