Notes: If you blinked, you might have missed it. For a hot moment in the late 2000s, this striking guitar hit the market, then just as quickly vanished like a phantom.

From the Parker Guitars division of US Music, marketers of the renowned Fly series, this innovative archtop guitar was cataloged only from 2007 to 2009, and produced in such limited numbers that it's not even listed in the comprehensive Vintage Guitar Guides.

With jazz legend Larry Coryell listed as an endorser, the PJ12 'J-Man' was carved of all solid North American tonewoods, according to the makers, with a solid ebony fingerboard, extra depth body, and distinctive post-deco styling.

At 7lb 6oz, the guitar is comparable in weight to a contemporary L-5CES, and is nicely balanced on the lap or the strap. This striking example is in showroom condition, with all original electronics and gold hardware, including the premium Grover Imperial tuners, as used on vintage Super 400 and other upscale models.

The gentle D neck profile is easy in the palm, with a particularly generous 1 13/16" fingerboard, ideal for finger or pick style play, and a fresh high-precision setup. The twin Egnater humbuckers, created by designer Frank LaMarra, offer versatile tone for a variety of styles as well.

It took over 30 years for one of these singular rarities to show up, complete with its original deluxe brown Parker logo hardshell case, with silk coverlet and built-in hygrometer. Own the first one on your block: one only, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge roundwound nickel strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
