Notes: Oregon luthier Paul Lestock has made a reputation for building top quality handmade instruments at prices real musicians can really afford. His artist roster includes the likes of Mike Marshall, Radim Zenkl, John Carlini and others, and his guitars and mandolins are renowned for their lively responsive acoustic tone. Acoustic archtops have been a longtime focus for Paul, and this Model 15 is a tribute to the legendary Gibsons of the Golden Era.
This striking instrument is a contemporary adaptation of Gibson's classic prewar 15" guitars, specifically the popular L-30 and L-37 models. To this comfy compact body contour, the Arrow adds Loar era L-5 features like the solid carved flame maple body, arched back, and bound contoured pickguard. The addition of the long scale neck enhances punch and projection, and the floating handwound Kent Armstrong floating pickup allows faithful amplification with either nickel or bronze string sets.
Weighing in at a mere 4 lb. 10 oz. this guitar is effortless to hold, with excellent balance and a clear, open brilliant voice. This custom example is in immaculate condition, without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and boasts smooth low action over vintage style fretwork on a gentle C profile neck with a generous 1 3/4" fingerboard. With genuine made-in-USA custom luthier quality at the price of a factory knock-off, this Arrow truly hits a bullseye.
