Serial #: Z26104 Body size at lower bout: 16" Body depth: 2 3/8" Scale length: 24 3/4" Nut width: 1 11/16" Neck depth, 1st/10th frets: .79/.99
Materials: Arched figured tiger maple body; solid mahogany neck; solid rosewood fingerboard; bound body and neck.
Hardware: 100% original nickel hardware, including Jason Lollar P-90 pickups, Grover Rotomatic tuners, trapeze tailpiece, adjustable compensated rosewood bridge, black barrel volume and tone knobs, adjustable truss rod.
Notes: Handbuilt in Kalamazoo by former Gibson artisans in the old Gibson plant, the H-525 is one of the very rarest of all Heritage models. Now out of production for many years, and extremely scarce on the vintage market, the model was custom produced for a south Florida dealer, and is so rare can't even be found among the exhaustive listings in the Vintage Guitar Price Guides.
A tribute to the beloved Gibson ES-225, the H-525 has a fully hollow 16" body, Jason Lollar P-90 single coil pickups, and fast 24 3/4" scale. This particularly handsome example was built with striking flame maple throughout, with all laminate construction for superior sustain and feedback resistance.
The scatter wound Jason Lollar P-90 pickups feature Alnico V magnets, and offer true vintage tone, with superior clarity and definition. Exceptionally low on hum in either position, the pickups are reverse wound to eliminate hum altogether when both are engaged.
At barely 6lb even, the guitar is nimbly balanced on the lap or the strap, and the comfy, slimmed depth body sits easily under the arm. With smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup, the gentle D profile neck tapers up to a nicely solid feel in the hand.
Maintained in stellar condition, the instrument is without cracks, pick, thumb or fingerboard wear, with plenty of room for adjustment on the solid rosewood bridge. The lustrous vintage style dark chestnut burst finish is all original, and without checking: apart from a few scattered nicks, the instrument shows few signs of play altogether.
(Note: No pickguard was removed from this guitar, as the H-525 model was designed and built without one.) A rare bird indeed, and one of the best buys in a true US built, hardworking gig guitar. One only: call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel flatwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original deluxe black Heritage logo arched plush lined hardshell case.
