Notes: Luthier Steven Holst has been making fine handcrafted instruments one at a time for over three decades at his shop in Oregon's Willamette Valley, just south of Eugene. With a production of only eight to ten instruments a year, Holst's guitars are not easy to come by, and are rarely seen on the vintage market.
This custom archtop features a full depth 17" body with a tap tuned X-braced solid carved spruce soundboard. This handsome guitar is crafted of exceptional tonewoods including vivid tiger maple in the body, and dramatic curly maple body binding. At just 6lb 6oz, the guitar is light in weight and well balanced on the lap or strap. The neck profile is a comfy gentle D, with smooth low action over a fresh high-precision setup. The built in Vintage Vibe humbucking pickup offers warm, smooth amplified tone, with excellent sustain and feedback resistance. A special plus is the built-in K&K piezo pickup system mounted under the soundboard. Both pickups are connected to the stereo endpin jack, for superlative acoustic fidelity.
This gleaming example is in immaculate condition, without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and with 100% original finish and hardware. Holst guitars are rarely seen on the vintage market, and new orders can entail a substantial wait. A brilliant blend of comfort and performance: one only, call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.012-.052). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original deluxe black arched plush lined hardshell case.
