Notes: Andy's Archtops? Don't let the peghead fool you: Victoria, BC luthier Andrew Nezil is all business...just not a stuffed shirt. One of the many distinguished alumni of the Larrivee factory, Nezil cut his chops with legendary Vancouver luthier Michael Dunn, one of the most creative builders alive. A player as well as a builder, Nezil combines a musician's ear with an artists's eye for fine tonewood.
The Nezil 17 is a classic Venetian cutaway acoustic archtop in the Benedetto style, constructed of intensely figured tiger flame maple, finely bookmatched quartersawn spruce, and all handmade ebony hardware. The hand graduated X braced top enhances sustain, and at just 5lb. 15oz. the instrument is nicely lightweight and well balanced. Action is smooth and low over a gentle D neck profile with full width 1 3/4" nut and smartly dressed medium jumbo fretwork.
Nezil uses the Kent Armstrong Handmade PAF floating humbucker, a pickup many feel sets the gold standard for full, faithful tonal response. This guitar is in immaculate 100% original condition, without playwear of any kind, and represents an outstanding value in a true hand built North American jazz guitar.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Deluxe black arched fitted plush lined hardshell case.
