Notes: Composer, performer, author and clinician, Professor Fred Hamilton is a busy man. A veteran faculty member in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas, Hamilton can add to his credentials the title of distinguished guitar designer as well. Working with renowned Austin luthier Ed Schaefer, Hamilton envisioned an instrument that fuses tone, comfort, and portability with an effortess playability.
The perfect instrument for the player on the go, the Schaefer Hamilton Headless has a compact, slimline 12" body, just 30" in total length, and hand-crafted of all solid tonewoods. With a deeply figured quilted maple top, flame maple neck, and a solid Honduran mahogany body, the guitar is notably light in weight as well, at just 5lb 5oz..
One of a tiny handful ever made, the Hamilton's innovative deep cutaway allows free access to the full range of the extended 24 fret fingerboard. The neck has a comfy gentle "D" profile, easy in the palm, and the solid rosewood fingerboard has smooth, low action over a fresh high-precision setup. The Lollar Imperial humbucking pickups have a full, saturated tone, with a highly versatile range, measuring 7.42k at the neck, and 8.28k at the bridge.
This gleaming guitar has been carefully maintained without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. Apart from a few incidental lacquer nicks, the guitar shows few signs of play altogether. The ideal companion for the gigging player, the Hamilton Headless is the perfect companion for the club, the studio, and the overhead bin. Travel light: one only, call now.
