Notes: Austin luthier Ed Schaefer's Freddy model is the perfect instrument for the player on the go. All solid, all carved, slim depth 14" body delivers big-guitar archtop tone, but slips smartly into the overhead bin. The premium hand-carved solid spruce soundboard and highly flamed maple body have the classic voice of the tap-tuned, parallel braced soundboard. And the guitar is almost impossibly light in weight: at a mere 4lb 6oz. it practically floats off the lap, yet is built to withstand the rigors of the road.

This guitar is crafted with a bookmatched, deeply figured maple body, and a solid, carved, fine grained Sitka spruce soundboard. The neck has a comfy gentle "D" profile, notably sleek and fast, and the frets are the classic medium-jumbos, famously easy to play. The Armstrong Handmade floating humbucking pickup produces a smooth, silky tone, faithful to the acoustic voice, which is wonderfully resonant, especially for an instrument of this compact size.

This gleaming example has been maintained in 100% original condition, and is free of pick, buckle, thumb, fret or fingerboard wear. Since Ed's retirement awhile back, these rare birds have become instant collector's items. Here's an opportunity to bag one of the last of his renowned archtops, in showroom condition.

An ideal gig companion: just sling it over your shoulder. One only: call now.

Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished. String action is set to 4/64" -5/64" and the 12th fret, with light fingerboard relief.
