Built in consultation with Tonight Show/American Idol guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr, the JA-15 is a fully hollow instrument designed for maximum tonal versatility and player comfort. At just 5lb 10 oz. the guitar is blissfully lightweight, and nimbly balanced on the lap or the strap. The simplicity of the controls make the JA-15 a breeze to play, and the PRS 53/10 pickups are a marvel of depth and clarity.
The sides, back, and neck are carved of solid tiger flame maple, with a soundboard of solid carved bookmatched spruce. The interior is fully hollow, with a small interior block anchoring the bridge to enhance stability and sustain. The neck profile has the PRS "Pattern" carve, a gentle, full C profile reminiscent of the classic 50's L-5 and Super 400 models. Action is smooth and low over the solid ebony fingerboard with high, brightly polished fretwork.
Finished in a warm golden PRS "V-12" lacquer, the instrument is in pristine 100% original condition, and is supplied with its original hang tags, paperwork and accessories. Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.011-.048). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
