Notes: Austin, Texas luthier Ed Schaefer's guitars are meticulously constructed entirely by hand, and rarely seen on the vintage market. His Schaefer 15 is the perfect instrument for the player on the go. All solid, all carved, slim depth 15" body delivers big-guitar archtop tone, but goes right up in the overhead bin.
A rare example of his seven string version, at just 5lb 3oz, the instrument is delightfully light in weight. A marvel of comfort, it's quite likely the most lightweight seven string archtop we've seen to date. Body and neck are very well balanced, and the instrument sits delightfully on the lap or the strap.
The floating Armstrong PAF pickup is a model of fidelity, amplifying the warm, rich acoustic voice of the instrument, while the additional K&K piezo pickups mounted under the soundboard highlight the brilliance of the upper register, both connected to a stereo endpin jack.
Crafted of stunning tiger flame maple throughout, the guitar features a hand graduated Sitka spruce soundboard, parallel braced for optimum projection. The solid ebony fingerboard has smooth, low action over a fresh high-precision setup. The neck has a comfy gentle "D" profile, notably sleek and fast, and the frets are the classic medium-jumbos, famously easy to play.
This rare example is in immaculate, virtually unplayed condition, and offers matchless versatility, unparalleled comfort, and stunning good looks. One only: call now.
