Notes: Austin, Texas based Collings guitars don't need much bragging. They're just some of the best flat tops on the planet. Their SJ (Small Jumbo) model is an adaptation of Gibson's rare early '50s J-185 flat top, and the later Everly Brothers model of the 1960's, both scaled down versions of the massive J-200 jumbo guitar.
This spectacular custom guitar is crafted with AAAA Koa of shimmering intensity, and topped with an X-braced soundboard of fine grained quartersawn German spruce. With its solid ebony fingerboard and bridge, the guitar is graced with elegant 5 ply body binding, and a lustrous curly Koa headplate.
The long scale neck lends a voice of uncommon power and dynamic range, equally suited to finger or pick style play, and ably amplified with Baggs' popular Anthem active pickup system, with soundhole mounted volume and tone controls. The prewar style C profile neck is full and solid, with a generous 1 3/4" nut for enhanced fingering.
This stunning example is in showroom condition, and is equipped with vintage style gold Waverly 16X1 tuners, and an opulent Cedar Creek deluxe hardshell case. Along with the original factory paperwork, a Collings tortoise pickguard is also included, and may be attached with its adhesive backing, A striking and versatile instrument from one of America's premier builders: one only, call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings. Action is adjusted to 4-5/64" at the 12th fret. The guitar will accommodate lighter strings, according to preference.
