Notes: Since its introduction in 1949, the Gibson ES-175 has been the most popular jazz guitar in the world. Originally fitted with a single P-90 pickup, the 175 added a second pickup by 1951, and humbuckers by 1957. The mahogany neck is a feature of the classic models of the 50's and 60's , and produces an instrument that is distinctly lighter in weight, and notably better balanced.
Built just a few years before Gibson discontinued this beloved model, this faithful late 50's style example is built with Gibson '57 Classic PAF humbucking pickups, all nickel hardware, and a full, gentle C profile neck. A special plus, the instrument is factory fitted with an L-5 style bound tortoise pickguard, a handsome touch indeed.
With all original dark Cremona sunburst finish, this gleaming instrument is free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and remains in virtually pristine condition. With immaculate medium jumbo frets, the fingerboard is utterly effortless to play, with a fresh high precision setup. The 24 3/4" scale is fast and nimble, the '57 Classic PAF humbuckers are rich and warm, and the 16" body is easy to cradle and substantially resistant to feedback.
Supplied with its original brown Gibson logo plush lined hardshell case, this striking guitar is a splendid version of the best loved jazz box of all time, now just a treasured memory. One only: call now.
Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished as needed; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel ground wound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
