Notes: A European trained builder whose instruments combine traditional design with exacting contemporary standards of craft, Bryant Trenier is a fine visual designer as well as a meticulous fabricator. One of the most talented builders of his generation, Trenier has built a following on both sides of the Atlantic with his exquisitely crafted instruments, the products of his intensive research and deep commitment to the art of the acoustic archtop guitar.

A rarely seen model, Trenier's Oval archtop is a hybrid design, with roots in Orville Gibson's pioneering archtop guitars of the early 20th century. The 16 1/2" full depth body is arched in the conventional fashion, with an oval soundhole designed to enhance bass response and sustain. The deep, lively acoustic voice has excellent projection out front, and unusual depth and warmth under the ear as well.

The body is handcarved of stunning highly figured European maple, with a tap-tuned X-braced Alpine spruce top, with intriguing wisps of natural coloration in the grain. At just 5lb 6oz, this guitar is wonderfully light in weight, and effortlessly balanced on the lap. The neck has an elegant D profile, easy in the hand, with smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup. The voice is truly phenomenal: we cannot recall a contemporary archtop instrument that delivers bass response this deep and resonant, or sustain this enduring.

This gleaming example is in showroom condition, 100% original, and appears all but unplayed. A striking work of contemporary luthiery, the Trenier Oval delivers robust vintage tone with 21st century playability, in a design that synthesizes the best of old and new. As of this writing, we understand that Bryant is deeply (and justifiably) backlogged, making this a rare opportunity, and an exceptional value. One only, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe black arched plush lined hardshell case.
