Notes: A European trained builder whose instruments combine traditional design with exacting contemporary standards of craft, Bryant Trenier is a fine visual designer as well as a meticulous fabricator. One of the most talented builders of his generation, Trenier has built a following on both sides of the Atlantic with his exquisitely crafted instruments, the products of his intensive research and deep commitment to the art of the acoustic archtop guitar.
A rarely seen model, Trenier's Motif archtop is a hybrid design, particularly well suited for fingerstyle play. With roots in Orville Gibson's pioneering archtop guitars of the early 20th century, the 16 inch Venetian cutaway body is arched in the conventional fashion, with an oval soundhole designed to enhance bass response and sustain. The lively acoustic voice has excellent projection out front, and is deeply satisfying under the ear, with an uncommonly rich, throaty voice, brimming with harmonics.
The body is handcarved of solid ribbon figured mahogany, with a bookmatched X-braced European spruce top. At an astounding 4lb 13oz, this guitar is notably light in weight, yet rock-solid in construction, and balances effortlessly on the lap or the strap. The neck has a slim, elegant D profile, very easy in the hand, with smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup.
This example is 100% original, appears virtually unplayed, and is pickup-ready with a stereo endpin jack in place. A striking work of contemporary luthiery, the Trenier Motif delivers robust vintage tone with 21st century playability, in a design that synthesizes the best of old and new. Now Bryant's carved guitars start at $10K, with a wait of many months. Grab this instant classic at an unbeatable price. One only, call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original deluxe black arched plush lined hardshell case.
