Notes: Shelley Park's guitars have become prized on both sides of the Atlantic for their beauty, power and ultra-meticulous craftsmanship. An updating of the Selmer "Petit Bouche" used by Django himself, the Park Encore has the long 670mm scale for exceptional punch and projection, and a 14 fret neck for improved access. With top of stunningly bright bookmatched Englemann spruce rimmed in curly maple binding, the guitar is extremely light in weight (just 3lb 15oz, 1.80kg) and the neck joins the body in a slim, elegant beveled heel.
Immaculately constructed, this example is built with back and sides of intensely flamed bookmatched fiddleback maple, with a gorgeous quartersawn solid Lutz spruce soundboard. Somewhat stiffer than Sitka spruce, Lutz borrows some of the brilliance and headroom of Adirondack or Red Spruce, with enhanced responsiveness under strong pick attack.
A special feature of this instrument is the oval sound port on the upper bass bout, which not only enhances the tone under the ear, but also increases volume and bass response for the instrument as a whole. The voice is clear and crisp in the highs, and particularly resonant in the mids and lows, with exceptional power and projection.
