Notes: Check this out: imagine time-traveling through three decades of the most iconic electric guitar sounds of the 20th century. Now imagine doing that on one instrument alone. In the uniquely versatile DS-375 CTO, Dutch luthier Daniel Slaman has made that happen.
The Slaman DS-375 takes the unique three pickup design of the ES-5 Switchmaster to the next level. With a custom wound set of Gibson's most celebrated pickups, the CTO is fitted with a British built 30's style CC-90 Charlie Christian' at the neck, a late 40's type Seymour Duncan P-90 single coil in the middle, and a Gibson '57 Classic PAF by the bridge. The result is an encyclopedia of classic electric guitar voices, in virtually limitless combinations.
The three way switch activates the neck and middle pickups individually, with the middle and bridge pickups combined in the final position. Each pickup is controlled by its own volume knob, with master volume and tone knobs completing the array. The soundboard is hand carved of solid European spruce, with a body and neck of solid carved ribbon-figured mahogany. Hardware includes the adjustable compensated Tuneomatic style bridge, Schaller tuners with ebony keys, nickel triple parallelogram trapeze tailpiece, bound ebony pickguard, and polished ebony control knobs.
The 16" Florentine cutaway body is slimmed to a depth 2 3/8" for a comfy feel under the arm, or in the lap. Elegant marquetry position markers adorn the solid ebony fingerboard, and the gentle D profile neck has smooth low action over a fresh high-precision setup. The innovative pickup system offers an expansive sonic range, from dark and mellow to brilliantly clear, with practically infinite variations in between.
This gleaming guitar is offered in 100% original, showroom quality condition, complete with its original lightweight plushlined Hiscox hardshell case. Oh and CTO? It stands for "Check This Out". Which you should, of course, without delay. This one plays it all. One only: call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.012-.052). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4 to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with light relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original deluxe plushlined Hiscox hardshell case.
