Materials: Highly figured lightweight maple laminate body; solid maple neck with adjustable truss rod; solid ebony fingerboard.
Hardware: Solid ebony pickguard, compensated bridge and tailpiece; Sperzel locking tuners; ebony Benedetto/Duncan B-6 humbucker; knurled black volume and tone knobs.
Notes: California luthier CB Hill honed his chops restoring classic guitars for LA pros for almost three decades. Now from his own workshop in Huntington Beach, Hill has been hand crafting custom built instruments for a dedicated and ever-expanding clientele.
His Corvette model is a gig-ready jazz box designed for the working player. Its slim depth 15" body is easy on the arm, with a feedback resistant laminate spruce top and sturdy, deeply flamed maple body. The neck has a classic '50s style full C profile, nice and solid in the hand, a generous 1 3/4" ebony fingerboard, and a smooth matte finish under the thumb, like a fine old cello.
At just a hair over 5lb even, the guitar is extraordinarily light in weight, and simply floats on the lap or the strap. The built-in Benedetto B-6 humbucker is from just up the road in Santa Barbara, where Seymour Duncan builds them with Alnico 5 bar magnets for extended treble response, and extra winding for maximum punch and sustain.
This guitar is in superb 100% original condition, without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and shows particularly intense flame maple figure throughout. Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
