Notes: From his workshop in the Adriatic port city of Pescara, noted Italian luthier Nico Moffa has built a dedicated and ever-expanding clientele among discriminating jazz guitarists worldwide. Championed by guitar legend Kurt Rosenwinkle, Moffas instruments convey the sensibility of Cremonese violin craftsmanship to the world of the fine guitar.
Named after a Zoroastrian deity, the Mithra model is designed to maximize tone in an innovative, feedback resistant design. The spruce braces of the soundchamber span fully from top to back, creating three separate areas of resonance, and substantially reducing potential feedback. The custom wound Moffa pickups are full sized, yet not routed into the body, but rather flush mounted to the top of the soundboard, to optimize acoustic response.
Meticulously appointed, this stunning example was built to the exact specs of Rosenwinkle own guitar, with a master grade top of intensely figured tiger flame maple, and vintage copper toned hardware throughout. Its compact, slim depth body is easy on the arm, and the gentle D profile neck offers smooth low action over a fresh high-precision setup. The hand rubbed matte finish is done in traditional violin style, to offer minimum impedance to the soundboard.
This exceptionally crafted guitar is 100% original, without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and appears in virtually unplayed condition. A special plus is the extremely elegant leather covered Artur Benedykt hardshell case, handmade to custom order from their workshop in Poland. Honestly, it's the prettiest guitar case we've ever seen.
Moffas instrument have become highly sought after, but are scarce indeed on the vintage market: owners are keepers. One only, call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
