Notes: Luthier Steven Holst has been making fine handcrafted instruments one at a time for over three decades at his shop in Oregon's Willamette Valley, just south of Eugene. With a production of perhaps eight to ten instruments a year, Holst's guitars are not easy to come by, and offer outstanding value and performance.

This custom archtop features a intensely flamed full depth 17" body with a fine grained, bookmatched, hand graduated spruce soundboard. The solid carved tonewoods in the body provide superior acoustic resonance, as well as lightweight construction: at just over 6lb, the instrument is deftly balanced on the lap or the strap.

With a gentle D neck profile and a solid ebony fingerboard, the action is smooth and low over a fresh high-precision setup. A sound port in the upper bass side acts as a monitor under the ear for the bright acoustic voice, conveyed to the amp by the Armstrong Handwound Johnny Smith floating pickup, with excellent clarity and detail.

100% original, the guitar is in showroom condition, and appears virtually unplayed. Premium touches include the highly figured Macassar ebony hardware, EVO gold fretwork, and 21:1 Gotoh 510 tuners, the smoothest available anywhere. Holst guitars are rarely seen on the vintage market, and new orders can entail a substantial wait. With first class fit, finish, and performance, the Holst delivers outstanding value in a true US luthier built archtop guitar. One only, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe arched plush lined hardshell case
