Little known by their brand name in the US, FujiGen is one of the largest pro-quality guitar makers in the world, producing instruments for Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, Yamaha, Ibanez and many others for over 6 decades. Built under their own name for the Japanese market only, their Masterfield series is their top of the line, employing highly advanced technology including their proprietary CFS fretting system, and compound radius fingerboards for optimal intonation and ease of play.
A custom archtop model, built specifically for the jazz player, this working guitar is built with a fully hollow body and solid ebony fingerboard. With it's comfy full depth 16" body and 24 3/4" scale, the instrument is nicely lightweight at just 6lb 3oz. The highly figured body is topped with an arched spruce top, whose laminate construction provides enhanced feedback resistance and structural stability.
Upscale touches include streamlined D'Angelico style soundholes, inverted Gretsch design hump inlays, and art deco tailpiece and pickguard. A special plus, the guitar is fitted with its original Super 58 humbucking pickup, as used by Pat Metheny, John Scofield and other top pros.
This gleaming instrument is in 100% original showroom condition, without apparent playwear. Smooth low action over an easy, slightly flattened D profile neck, with a warm, classic archtop voice. A rare find on this side of the pond, and a superbly designed instrument, at a gigging player's price. One only: call now.
Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
This instrument is strung with medium gauge roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
