Serial #: 53579
Body size at lower bout: 17 3/8" Scale length: 25 1/2" Nut: 1 11/16"
Materials: Handcarved solid spruce top; solid handcarved flame maple back; maple sides; five-piece maple neck; Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge; diamond-pattern enamel fingerboard inlay and "fleur-de-lis" style peghead inlay, triple-bound body, bound fingerboard and headstock, original bone nut.
Hardware: Original nickel Frequensator style tailpiece; original rosewood bridge (serial number stamped on underside of bridge foot); original Epsilon-logo 16X1 tuners; correct bound leopard shell tortoise pickguard; hex-key adjustable truss rod;
Notes: This example is an original New York Epiphone in virtually unplayed condition, and is powerful, bright and easy to play. This example is from the last year for the graceful prewar snowflake peghead inlay. It's highlighted with a superb original sunburst finish, and the guitar shows no cracks, pick, buckle, or thumbwear. Binding is tight, tuning keys are unfaded, tailpiece seam reinforced, even the label is still bright white. The action is fast and low over dead-level original fretwork, and the voice is clear, bright and powerful. An exceptionally attractive example of our most popular Epiphone ever.
Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.057). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original Epiphone hardshell case.
