Serial #: 56432, blue New York label

Body size at lower bout: 17 3/8" Scale length: 25 1/2". Nut width: 1 11/16"

Finish: Original sunburst finish, nitrocellulose lacquer type

Materials: Solid handcarved figured maple back and sides; solid bookmatched handcarved spruce top; solid maple neck with 3-ply walnut/maple centerstripe; abalone peghead fingerboard inlays with pearl logo; triple-bound body, bound fingerboard and headstock; original bone nut.

Hardware: 100% original hardware includes gold epsilon-logo tuners; gold Epiphone Frequensator tailpiece; original bound nitrocellulose red tortoise pickguard; hex-key adjustable truss rod, adustable Brazilian rosewood bridge; original frets.

Notes: The forties Broadway has always been one of our most popular guitars. Built with the same body size and scale length as the Deluxe, the Broadway also sports the same gold hardware, powerful voice and playable neck of its costlier cousin. This example is in wonderful condition, with a rich deep vintage sunburst over a handcarved solid spruce top, flame maple back, and birdseye maple sides. Many feel the Broadway peghead vine is among the most graceful inlays ever designed, and this example is cut from solid mother of pearl with colored highlights.

The instrument is in excellent condition, with all original finish free of buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. The original frets are in fine condition and the fingerboard is straight and true, with a fast low action. Of particular note is the original red swirl tortoise pickguard, always wonderful to see, and the original gold Frequensator tailpiece has been freshly rebrazed. A pair of hairline dryness cracks near the tailpiece have been soundly resealed, along with a short section of the back centerseam. The voice is clear and bright, with excellent balance and cutting power. A great player, and a very handsome example indeed.

Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridgewheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.057). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Deluxe plush hardshell case.
