Materials: Handcarved, bookmatched solid spruce top and solid handcarved birdseye maple back; 5 piece cherry neck with walnut centerstripe; solid Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with diamond mother of pearl inlay; original compensated adjustable Brazilian rosewood bridge; pearl column peghead inlay in stained holly headstock veneer, triple-bound body, bound fingerboard and headstock.
Hardware: All original hardware includes original nickel plated "E-logo" tuners, original Frequensator tailpiece, original rosewood bridge, original bound tortoise pickguard, adjustable truss rod.
Notes: Epiphone announced the Triumph Regent in 1949, as the cutaway version of Epis most popular professional archtop. The Triumph Regent was manufactured in New York for only about two years, and is accordingly a much scarcer item than its non-cutaway counterpart, or its competitor, the Gibson L-7C.
With a solid carved soundboard criscrossed with bearclaw figure, this wonderful guitar has been well maintained, with all original finish remarkably free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. Now buffed to a high luster, the deep amber lacquer shows some fairly deep checking, and some finish dings on the treble side of the tailpiece have been spot retouched.
This guitar is equipped with its original 16X1 E-logo tuners, adjustable rosewood bridge, Frequensator tailpiece, and bound tortoise pickguard. The action is smooth and low over fresh pro frets, and a classic Epiphone gentle C profile. The voice is clear, open and forward, with the big bark for which Epis are justifiably famous. An outstanding example of a cutaway classic from the great New York factory.
Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.057). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Deluxe arched plush lined hardshell case.
