Notes: Gibson's popular L-7C model was produced between 1949 and 1972, and constructed with the same body size, materials, bracing and scale length as its costly cousin, the L-5C. One of just 81 examples from its model year, this handsome guitar is a rare one that has remained all acoustic, with no pickup ever installed.
Carefully maintained with all original Cremona sunburst finish, the instrument is free of cracks, pick, buckle, or fingerboard wear. The gleaming dark walnut finish shows fine curly maple figure on the back and neck, with just a small oval of thumbwear around the second fret. All multi-ply binding is original and tight to the body, and still retains its nibs at the ends of the fine original medium fretwork.
At a mere 5lb, 3oz, this guitar is exceedingly light in weight, and nimbly balanced on the lap or the strap. The neck profile is particularly elegant, with a full width 1 11/16" fingerboard, and a notably slim depth, exceptionally easy in the hand. A scattering of finish nicks are visible on the upper treble bout, but the instrument shows few signs of age otherwise: even the label looks uncannily bright inside the body.
Hardware is original as well, with the addition of a vintage correct set of aged nickel Kluson deluxe tuners, with smooth modern 15:1 gearing. With smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup, the guitar has a vibrant acoustic voice with excellent volume, clarity, and projection.
A classic vintage Gibson jazzer with a resonant voice, this striking beauty is a rare find, at a fraction of the cost of a comparable L-5. A compelling reminder of just how fine a Golden Era Gibson can be. One only, call now.
