Body size at lower bout: 16 1/4" Body depth: 2" Scale length: 24 3/4" Nut width: 1 3/8"

Materials: Arched figured maple laminate body; solid Honduras mahogany neck; rosewood fingerboard with block inlays; wedge pearl logo peghead inlay; triple-bound body; bound fingerboard.

Hardware: 100% original nickel hardware includes adjustable DeArmond single coil pickups with cream covers; Grover scalloped open-back tuners; G-logo top hat knobs; compensated adjustable rosewood bridge; harp tailpiece, contoured black screen-logo pickguard, 3 way pickup selector switch, adjustable truss rod.

Notes: Jazz legend Tiny Grimes worked with musical giants from the Cats and the Fiddle to Art Tatum and Charlie Parker. While previous tenor guitar players contented themselves with comping rhythm banjo-style, Grimes distinguished himself as a rare soloist on the instrument, and a pioneer of the electrified version of the four-string guitar.

In his later career, Grimes played a custom made Guild CE-100 Capri tenor, with a 4-pole DeArmond single coil pickup. The Guild Tenor Special shown here is an ultra-rare thinline version of the same model, with the same block inlays, Chesterfield headstock, and an additional pickup in the bridge position.

Built in 1962, this instrument has been kept in gleaming condition, with all original electronics and hardware. The back and sides show handsome slab cut figure, and the handsome sunburst finish is all original as well. Maintained in showroom condition, the instrument is free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and appears virtually unplayed.

The neck profile is a gentle C, easy in the hand, and the action is smooth and low, with a fresh high-precision setup. The adjustable DeArmond singe coil pickups are clear and detailed, highlighting the depth and resonance of the comfy, fully hollow slimline body. Nestled in its fine original plush lined hardshell case, this scarce model is a classic Guild from the old Hoboken factory, and one of the rarest guitars the firm ever produced. One only: call now.

Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel strings (.012). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe Guild black arched plush hardshell case.
