Serial #: 194950

Materials: Solid bookmatched figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides; solid bookmatched spruce top; solid one-piece Honduras mahogany neck; solid ebony fingerboard; Brazilian rosewood peghead veneer; solid bone nut; solid ebony bridge with bone saddle; original Grover Rotamatic tuners; original tortoise pickguard, and inlaid ivoroid bridgepins. K&K Pure Mini bridgeplate pickup with 1/4" endpin jack.

Notes: The scarcest and most coveted of all instrument tonewoods, Brazilian Rosewood is renowned for its brilliant, bell-like tone, and dramatic highly figured grain, with highlights ranging from deep purple to cafe au lait. Under strict export embargo since the late 60's, Brazilian Rosewood has skyrocketed in price as old stock reserves have become increasingly depleted over the years. Makers lucky enough to have a remaining stash charge a king's ransom for the material as a custom upgrade, and most offer it rarely if at all.

We are pleased therefore to offer this outstanding Martin D-28 dreadnought, with the coveted Brazilian rosewood body, and classic tortoise pickguard. It's in superb 100% original condition: the back wood is dramatically figured, and ranges in color from a medium coffee to deep purple highlights. Meticulously maintained, the finish has deepend to a fine amber, and is notably free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, with only a few scattered lacquer nicks, mostly on the back of the neck. The guitar has the original deep tortoise pickguard in excellent condition, and the typical tiny shrinkage crack between guard and bridge.

The voice is dry, clear and loud as a cannon, with smooth low action over a straight clear dark ebony fingerboard. A rare chance to bag one of the true classic Martins of the Golden Age.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference.

Case: Deluxe blue molded Martin thermoplastic hardshell case with plush lining.
