Serial #: 109105, on neckplate. Neck date: 7 Oct 65 Scale length: 34" Nut width: 1 1/2" Neck depth, 1st/12th frets: .80/.99 Weight: 8lb, 15oz

Hardware and materials: All original hardware includes black staggered-pole single coil pickups with chrome cover; nickel Kluson 'reverse' open back tuners; four saddle nickel 'micro-adjusting' bridge with chrome cover; 5 ply laminate tortoise pickguard; twin volume and master tone controls; round string retainer in peghead; double-screw finger rest; adjustable truss rod. Contoured offset solid alder body, solid one-piece maple neck with slab rosewood fingerboard.

Notes: Introduced in 1960, the Fender Jazz Bass represented the design evolution of their wildy successful Precision Bass of 1951. So dominant was Fender's innovation that the term 'Fender Bass' remains synonymous with 'electric bass' in many quarters to this day. With an offset lower bout for greater comfort, and a narrower, more contoured neck, the J Bass added an additional pickup for a brighter, more complex tone as well.

This outstanding example from the autumn of 1965 combines many of the most desirable features of the classic J-Bass, before the model was substantially re-designed by CBS. One of the last with the unbound dot-inlay neck, the guitar is also fitted with the nickel Kluson 'reverse' tuners with scalloped keys, phased out the following year.

Maintained in gleaming condition, the instrument remains fitted with all original three tone sunburst finish, and all-original hardware and electronics, including Stackpole pots with October '65 codes, matching the date on the neck. At just 8lb, 15oz. the instrument is comfy and well balanced, with smooth, low action over a fresh high precision setup.

The solid, one piece maple neck is straight, with a working truss rod, and smooth pro thumbwear from a long bandstand career. Playwear is light, with some buckle worming on the back, a few incidental lacquer nicks on top, and a small patch of case wear on the treble side. Original staggered pole single coil pickups measure 6.34K at mid position, and 7.86 at the bridge, with rich, versatile tone, and effortless action on its slim, elegantly profiled neck.

An outstanding player, from Fender's most fabled era, complete with its original Fender logo black tolex hardshell case with red plush lining. One only: call now.
