Materials: Solid Honduras mahogany neck; maple top back, and sides; solid Brazilian rosewood fingerboard

Hardware: Original hardware includes twin P-90 pickups, tortoise pickguard, nickel-plated Kluson Deluxe tuners, nickel trapeze tailpiece, compensated adjustable Tuneomatic bridge. Vintage correct aged gold reflector cap knobs.

Introduced in 1960, the ES-125TCD ("thin cutaway double pickup") had a production run of just eleven years. With its fat P-90 pickups, Florentine cutaway, and fast scale, the ES-125 is essentially a thinline version of the classic fifties-era ES-175. As on the 175, the laminated body offers superior feedback resistance, while the all-hollow thinline profile and absence of superfluous hardware resulted in one of the most lightweight electric guitars Gibson ever produced; incomparably comfortable to hold and just plain fun to play.

This one's in fine shape, without pick, buckle, or thumb wear, and a lovely all-original cherryburst finish. At a mere 5lb. 5oz, the guitar is delightfully light in weight, and balances nimbly on the lap or the strap. The action is low and smooth over fine medium jumbo fretwork, with an easy gentle C profile neck. The tone of the original twin P-90's is clear and detailed: pure '50's at its best. Apart from one slightly bent tuner shaft, this gleaming guitar looks much as it did when it left the factory half a century ago.

Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
