Materials: Solid 3 piece maple neck; solid rosewood fingerboard; arched slab-cut maple top, sides and back; dual-parallelogram fingerboard inlay and thistle peghead inlay; triple bound top, bound back.

Hardware: 100% original hardware includes twin Gibson Pat. # humbucking pickups with original pots and shielding cans; Gibson sealed tulip key tuners; trapeze tailpiece with raised-parallelogram crossbar; adjustable compensated Tuneomatic bridge; beveled 5-ply pickguard; 3 way control switch; original black bonnet knobs included in case, extra set of aged gold reflector cap knobs installed.

Notes: Since its introduction in 1949, the Gibson ES-175 has been the most popular jazz guitar in the world. The twin pickup ES-175D debuted in 1951, and the model became Gibson's first model to be fitted with the humbucking pickup in 1957. Since its inception over half a century ago, the classic ES-175 has remained in the Gibson catalog continuously to this day.

Unlike modern reissues, this handsome guitar is built with a solid 3 piece maple neck, as found on the L-5, Super 400, and other top line Gibson archtops. It's also fitted with Kluson tulip key tuners with the diagonal Gibson logo, a rare variety seen only for a few model years in this era. This example is in all-original condition, free of pick, thumb or fingerboard wear, with warmly ambered blonde finish.

The back shows attractive slab cut figure, with flame maple sides, and apart from a few traces of buckle worming on the back, the guitar has been carefully maintained in excellent playing condition. The 24 3/4" scale is fast and nimble, with original medium jumbo frets and a gentle C profile neck, and a fresh high-precision setup. The twin humbuckers are fat and sweet, and the 16" body is easy to cradle and substantially resistant to feedback.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel flatwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
