Notes: Since its introduction in 1949, the Gibson ES-175 has been the most popular jazz guitar in the world. Originally fitted with a single P-90 pickup, the 175 added a second pickup by 1951, and humbuckers by 1957. The mahogany neck is a feature of the classic models of the 50's and 60's , and produces an instrument that is distinctly lighter in weight, and notably better balanced.
This stunning guitar has a handsome sunburst body, with a figured maple top and ribboned mahogany back, sides and neck. One of the rarest and most lightweight versions of the model, this combination was produced only between 1983 and 1990. This example is in wonderful condition, free of cracks, pickwear, bucklewear, thumbwear or finish checking. With immaculate medium jumbo frets, the fingerboard is utterly effortless to play. The 24 3/4" scale is fast and nimble, the twin humbuckers are fat and sweet, and the 16" body is easy to cradle and substantially resistant to feedback. New list is almost $5000 now on these. A great instrument in a distinguished lineage that spans a half century of hard-working guitars.
Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished as needed; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original brown Gibson hardshell case with pink plush lining.
