Serial #: 530

Body size at lower bout: 15" Body depth: 4" Scale length: 25 1/2" Nut width: 1 3/4"

Materials: solid Brazilian Rosewood back, sides and headplate; solid bookmatched Adirondack spruce top; solid one-piece mahogany neck; solid ebony bridge and fingerboard; tortoise shell pickguard; bone nut and saddle; grained ivoroid body binding and heel cap; gold Waverly tuners; abalone inlay, body and soundhole purfling; active under-saddle pickup system with endpin jack.

Notes: Renowed for its exquisite balance, clarity and comfort, the OM (Orchestra Model) guitar design combines the responsiveness of the 000 body size, with the snap and projection of the longer 25 1/2" dreadnought scale. The generous 1 3/4" nut is particularly beloved by fingerstyle and jazz players, and also a strong choice for the flatpicker, or any guitarist looking for a versatile instrument smartly adapted to the human form.

The Santa Cruz OM-42 Brazilian is a presentation grade model, based on Martin's fabled OM-45 design. Built with spectacularly figured solid Brazilian rosewood, the instrument features premium appointments including abalone trim, grained ivoroid binding, diamond inlays, small tortoise pickguard, and an ornate torch style inlay in the headstock.

This guitar has been maintained in immaculate, virtually unplayed condition, without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. With a traditional light "V" neck profile, the instrument has smooth low action over fine classic medium-tall fretwire. At just 4lb 2oz, the guitar is blissfully lightweight and well balanced in the lap.

The bookmatched, quartersawn Adirondack spruce soundboard lends remarkable projection and sustain, with brilliant clarity in the upper register and crisp, well-defined bass. With artisan-level craftsmanship mass market guitars simply can't match, the Santa Cruz OM-42 Brazilian is utterly exceptional in fit, finish, tone and playability. And as easy on the eyes as it is on the ears. Rarely seen on the vintage market: one only, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.012-.054). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings.
