Materials: Solid mahogany neck; solid rosewood fingerboard; highly figured tiger maple top sides and back; dual-parallelogram mother of pearl fingerboard inlay and thistle peghead inlay; triple bound top, bound back.

Hardware: All gold hardware including Gibson USA humbucking pickups, single ring tulip key tuners, trapeze tailpiece with raised-parallelogram crossbar; compensated Tuneomatic bridge with rosewood base. Beveled 5-ply pickguard; gold barrel knobs; 3 way control switch.

Notes: Since its introduction in 1949, the Gibson ES-175 has been the most popular jazz guitar in the world. Originally fitted with a single P-90 pickup, the 175 added a second pickup by 1951, and humbuckers by 1957. This example shows highly figured tiger flame maple in the body throughout. The mahogany neck also produces an instrument that is distinctly lighter in weight, and notably better balanced.

Ebony is one of the rarest finish colors for this model, and this gleaming guitar has been customized with all gold hardware for an exceptionally elegant appearance. The instrument has been kept in great shape, free of cracks, pickwear, thumbwear, fingerboard wear or finish checking. Apart from a few random lacquer nicks and a few buckle dents, the guitar shows only light playwear altogether. With fine original medium jumbo frets, the fingerboard is utterly effortless to play. The 24 3/4" scale is fast and nimble, and the 16" body is easy to cradle and substantially resistant to feedback.

The neck profile is a gentle C, with smooth low action over a fresh high-precision setup. The Gibson USA humbucking pickups read 8.11K and 8.21K respectively, and respond with silky smoothness, and a warm, rich sustain. Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished as needed; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.011-.049). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
