Finish: Vintage sunburst finish, nitrocellulose lacquer type.
Materials: Solid bookmatched handcarved fine grain spruce top; solid handcarved bookmatched tiger-flame maple back and sides with Venetian cutaway; tiger flame maple neck with walnut centerstripes; solid ebony fingerboard with cloud mother of pearl inlays; abalone headstock logo; 7-ply body binding; 5-ply neck binding; bound f-holes; solid bone nut.
Hardware: Original gold hardware includes Heritage tailpiece with logo insert, Grover Super Rotomatic tuners with Imperial keys; compensated adjustable rosewood bridge with inlaid foot; 5-ply bound maple pickguard; adjustable truss rod. Kent Armstrong floating PAF humbucking pickup installed.
Handbuilt in Kalamazoo by former Gibson artisans in the old Gibson plant, the Golden Eagle is the flagship of the Heritage line. The equivalent to the Gibson L-5C, the Golden Eagle shares the same materials and specifications as its Gibson cousin, including the solid carved spruce top, solid flame maple back and sides, inlaid ebony fingerboard and parallel bracing.
An elegant single pickup jazz box, the guitar combines the deco look of the Epi Deluxe cloud inlays with outstanding tiger flame maple throughout. Warm, classic jazz voice unplugged or through the amp. Smooth low action over a gentle D profile neck, with solid ebony fingerboard and a fresh high precision setup. An upgrade Kent Armstrong floating PAF humbucking pickup has been installed: the state-of-the art jazz pickup available today.
The instrument has been maintained in superb condition and is supplied with its original hardshell case. At this writing, it appears this popular model is no longer available from the factory, making it an instant collector's item. Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
